The Fall of a Reaffirmed Pillar of Democracy

Last Feb.10,2010, Wednesday, Secretary Gonzales was a guest speaker in a Forum in Ateneo de Davao University on ‘Reaffirming the Pillars of Democracy — The Armed Forces of the Philippines, The Church and Faith Commitments, and The Civil Society in Fusion’. In the said forum Secretary Norberto Gonzales said that he is believing that the AFP has no involvement in any forms of violation on the government. But the reaffirming fell into ruins when the Military defies the Writ of Habeas Corpus issued by the Supreme Court. The Military and Police failed to present the 43 health workers, arrested by the military with the allegations that they are members of the New People’s Army in Feb 6, in the Court of Appeals.
